A New Future
Nuclear energy is one of the strongest cards this region holds. Companies in Lynchburg are nationally respected for the skill and expertise that keep reactors running and the grid reliable. That reputation has taken decades to build, and it is an advantage we should keep expanding.
At the same time, new projects in battery production, advanced manufacturing, and data-driven industries are beginning to take shape. The question is not whether these industries will grow — it’s whether the growth happens here, in the Fifth, where families and local businesses can benefit.
That means standing up for fair deals, making sure public dollars deliver local value, and giving counties the power to secure agreements that keep benefits close to home. Because once opportunities and investments pass us by, they are hard to win back.
What Congress Can Do
- Tie any tax breaks and loans to clear local benefits so investment builds permanent value here, not somewhere else.
- Direct federal support toward projects that anchor jobs in this region and strengthen long-term industry here at home.
- Back counties that want fair agreements with developers to guarantee lasting value for local workers and taxpayers.
- Support locally grounded energy options that help families earn more while keeping farmland and working land productive.
What Congress Cannot Do Alone
- It cannot dictate where private companies build, but it can shape incentives so the Fifth is the smart choice.
- It cannot run every project, but it can set clear standards so local people do not get stuck with the costs.
What I Will Do
- I will champion nuclear and advanced manufacturing as core strengths of this region and push to expand them here.
- I will work to ensure every federal dollar spent on energy and industry in the Fifth leaves behind real value in jobs, training, and infrastructure.
- I will support counties that want fair deals, local safeguards, and the power to decide what fits their land and way of life.
