A New Future
Good healthcare should not depend on your zip code or whether you get every form right. Too many people in the Fifth already drive an hour or more for a check-up or get stuck battling paperwork while they wait for care. Now, new cuts and work requirements make it even easier for some families to lose coverage and harder for small hospitals and clinics to stay open.
If we want people to build a life here, to raise families, work, and grow old with dignity, they need care that stays local, stays open, and makes sense.
What Congress Can Do
- Protect rural hospitals and community clinics when federal Medicaid funding gets cut or shifted to the states.
- Update payment rules so local clinics and smaller providers have a fair shot to keep serving patients.
- Support more mobile health units and local clinics so people don’t waste hours on the road for routine care.
- Invest in training, scholarships, and career support so nurses, doctors, dentists, and mental health workers can build careers close to home.
- Make sure telehealth rules expand access for rural patients and support local providers instead of adding more layers of bureaucracy.
- Cut VA bureaucracy so veterans get the care they earned without getting lost in the system.
What Congress Cannot Do Alone
- It cannot run every hospital or hire every nurse, but it can make it worthwhile for people to work here and stay.
- It cannot deliver care itself, but it can stop passing rules that push local clinics to close.
What I Will Do
- I will stand up for the rural hospitals, clinics, and families that get squeezed when Washington shifts the burden.
- I will press for payment rules that reflect what it really costs to serve smaller communities.
- I will support mobile clinics and local training that bring care closer instead of pushing it farther away.
- I will push to keep telehealth rules practical for rural people and local providers, not just the biggest players.
- I will also roll up my sleeves to reduce barriers so veterans get the care they earned without needless delays.
